Audio-Video Post Production

Fourth and the last semester, Audio Video Post Production provides the tools to teach the concepts, theories and practices that have become the visual language of our current media form. Television stations, major corporations, commercials are among the business that hire ADMEC students. Post Production provides tools to learn concepts, theories and practices that have become the visual language of our current media form. This section comprises two main techniques of whole film making: Editing of video footages & sounds and Compositing. It covers from video and audio basics to advanced compositing techniques. Principles of Digital Video

Video and Audio Compression, Formats and Code cs, Digitising Video, Compatibility of Video Formats with different Computing Platforms, Standard Editorial Procedures including Logging, Syncing and Storage of Materials, Grading Process and the Role of the Colourist, Creative Theories (Production and Reception, Individuals and Audiences)

Editing Principles and Technologies

Picture Edit & Continuity, Picture Edit & Pace, Sound Edit & Clarity, Sound Edit & Creative Sound, Editing Genre– Action, Dialogue, Comedy, Documentary, Imaginative Documentary and Innovation Documentary, Ideas & Sound, Matching Action, Cutting on Movement, Pacing and Rhythm.

Interface of a Non Linear Editing Tool, Importing Assembling and Previewing Footage, Basic Editing (Fade-in, Fade-out, Cut to Cut), Adding Transitions, Advanced Editing (2 Point, 3 Point Editing), Editing Audio, Audio Sync, Titling, Combining Images (e.g. Layers, Juxtaposition and Montage, Compositing), Effects (e.g. Keying, Mattes, Filmstrips and Rotoscoping).

Introduction to Compositing

Principles of Compositing, Interface of the Compositing Software, 2D & 3D Interactivity, Applying Operators, Creating Matte for Masking, Paint & Edit, Adding Text, Masking and Shooting Footage, Keying, Time Remapping and Time Stretching, and Tracking.

Digital Compositing

Introduction to Advanced Compositing Tools and its Compatibility to Production, Principles of Compositing and Assembling Visual Effects for Film, Understanding Optical Phenomena (such as Depth of Field), Understanding Lighting, Basic Exposure Matching, Color Correction and Color Matching, Wire and Rig Removal, Ramping - Time Stretches and Time Squeeze, Procedural Extraction of Masks from Blue and Green Screen Footage, Rotoscoping, Masking and Chroma-Keying, RotoSplines and Digital Compositing using Radioscopy, Matte Adjustment and Manipulation, CG Compositing, Particles & Filters, 3D Camera & Lights, Nesting, Compositing Multi pass Rendering.

Collaborative Project

Students will have to work with client side projects/ live projects and will have a degree of flexibility in choosing the orientation of their project. Students will work as a team and be jointly responsible for the planning, conduct and outcome of the project, under the supervision of a member of staff acting as a guide. The project will be a significantly-sized production, with the objective of producing an output reflecting a real world need, together with accompanying documentation.
